The Chewi Hi8 SE currently retails for a price in the region of £70-£80. In terms of tablets, this represents the good ‘entry-level’ end of things. We say good as there are plenty of trash tablets available for £40 or less that in terms of performance are outright awful. When you consider that this tablet is provided with 32gb of internal memory, this really makes it stand out as a product of excellent value. In terms of relative competing tablets, very few of a similar quality offer that amount of memory for less than £100. Don’t forget, you can use external memory to expand by up to an additional 128GB. Therefore, in terms of price, the Chewi Hi8 SE represents excellent value for money.

The tablet itself has a nice sleek presentation that really highlights the excellent quality of the screen. It is, really, the aesthetics that make this product such a winner. Yes, it has it’s weaknesses. Particularly the camera quality, but other than this the tablet is very easy to use both in terms of operation and the simple basics of day-to-day usage. There is, on the whole, very little to grumble about here.
It may have sounded on more than a few occasions during this review that I didn’t like the Chewi Hi8 SE tablet. I will admit, I am very critical of the poor quality camera provided with this tablet. As I said earlier, it’s perfectly fine for Skype calls, but for taking outright photographs? No.
So what do we think about it on the whole? Well, it depends what you want from a tablet. If you’re looking to take high-quality photographs, you shouldn’t really be using a tablet in the first place and if you did, you’d have to spend at least three times as much to get one with a truly nice camera.
For general internet browsing, YouTube and tablet gaming, the Chewi Hi8 is really decent. The products biggest selling point, however, has to be the fantastic quality of imagery on the screen. Having used many tablets in the past, this is, without doubt, one of the best Android displays I’ve come across. I personally tend to use my tablet mostly for internet browsing and watching videos. Therefore, for me at least, this tablet is fantastic. It meets all the key factors I consider important.
If you consider that a tablet should primarily be used for internet use, watching videos and light gaming, then yes. The Chewi Hi8 provides all this and more with some of the best screen quality I have ever encountered in a tablet. It does everything all its competitors offer, but looks fantastic while doing it!
