Chinese Manufacturer ONDA Launches its First RTX 40 Series GPU

Onda are a Chinese brand who were popular for gamers in internet cafe’s in China, and have previously attempted to launch 30 series cards but was disrupted by Covid-19. As things are returning to normal ONDA has been able to launch their first 40 series GPU with a fully custom cooling design, the RTX 4080 Magic Sword.

The ONDA RTX 4080 Magic Sword

Now unlike the Maxsun Mega Gamer, this card has a much more reasonable name of ‘Magic Sword’ which is a little bit cheesy but, unlike the Mega Gamer, the cheese is a gentle grating rather than a full-on slap. So beyond the name what else does this card feature?

Specs and Design

Based on the images and specs provided to VideoCardz the RTX 4080 Magic Sword is said to be equipped with 3 fans 1 10cm and 2 9cm fans though from the images it looks more likely to be 2 10cm and one 9cm. These fans support fan-stop technology so should be rather silent when not under load. As mentioned earlier the card features a custom heatsink design which is equipped with 6 heat pipes and an anodised metal backplate.

The fan shroud itself is black with a few white stripes and a sharp one that cuts across the middle which may be RGB or just simply features a different colour design as it appears blue in one image and white in another. All in all, I can’t say anything bad about the design as it’s simple and nice. In terms of video output the card features 1 HDMI and 3 DisplayPort.

This is a standard RTX 4080 with an AD103 GPU, 9728 CUDA cores and 16GB of GDDR6X however this card features a higher boost clock of up to 2505MHz.

Price and Availability?

This card is available in China for 8999 RMB (£1,065.13). I doubt we will see any over here in the West but you never know. You can view Onda’s announcement on Weibo here.
