Performance

This being a gaming headset I figured I would get right into the action, so I fired up Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag to take a spin on the high seas and skip along some roof tops. Voice tracks and ambient noise immediately stood out more than usual, plenty of clarity and detail thanks to a powerful high-end. Mid ranges have a warmth to them that softens the overall sound-scape, easing the harness that many in-ear headphones often produce. The only downside was that the bass was a little weak, at all times clear but certainly lacking the low-end thump I was expecting from ear-buds of this size.

Battlefield 4 produced similar results, but while the lack of bass may take some of the intensity from the single player campaign, there were clear benefits to multiplayer gaming. Having clear high frequencies make it super easy to pick out enemy foot steps and it makes it harder for people to creep up on you. Not having a heavy bass tone makes the game feel less tiring on your ears and for long gaming sessions you’ll appreciate a more toned down sound scape. Chat using Mumble was great too and I was told that the in-line microphone was working loud and clear. The headphones give a fairly natural tone when listening to other people chatting and is nice and clear over in-game audio, of course you can also mix the volume directly from Windows Sound Manager.

Hooking the headset up to my smart phone was nice and easy too, making calls is simple as any other headset on the market and the sound quality was fantastic. Listening to music however provided less desirable results, the bass is crystal clear, but the heavier end of my music collection was left feeling a little hollow, but vocal heavy songs and audio books sound absolutely amazing.
