CM Storm Sonuz Gaming Headset Review

From first impressions the Sonuz comes across as very large in comparison to other headsets on the market. This is down to the bigger than average ear cups, which house the 53mm drivers and the all encompassing headband that features the ear cups on the inside of it, rather than on the end like most headsets. The main construction is comprised of a plastic body with a metallic grey texture.

The shape of the headset has a swept look to it as you can see from the side angle. The mic is located on the left as it is on most headsets, but it can be removed as seen further on.

The top of the headband has a small foam pad to make it more comfortable during long gaming sessions.

The Sonuz is adjustable, meaning it can fit many big-headed gamers.

The Sonuz features a noise-cancelling mic that can be swivelled to an up-right position when not in use. It can also be removed if it is not required. Unlike other headsets, the mic can also be swapped to the right ear cup.

The right ear cup also has a port for the microphone, which clicks into place. There is a removable rubber grommet that can be used to fill in the exposed port on whichever side is not in use.

The headset has an inline controller that allows the wearer to change the volume and if necessary, mute the mic, which a red LED comes on when muted.

At the other end of the braided cable there are two 3.5mm jacks, one for the stereo drivers, the other for the mic. Since this is standard on most analogue headphones, we didn’t photograph it.
