Cocoon Home Security Camera Review

Mobile App Usage

The mobile application is just as easy to use as it is to install. When you open it, you are presented with a timeline of events. You can also watch the live video feed at any time by pressing the button for that.

From the live feed, you can manually activate the alarm, if you wish to do so. It is loud and should be enough to scare most intruders away.

Perfect Daytime and Nighttime Video

Whether it is daytime or nighttime, you get excellent video recordings. As you can see in the screenshots below, it’s easy to recognise everything in both scenarios.

Timeline and Video Storage

The timeline features all events happening, for example also that you watched a live feed. At first, you might think that this isn’t important, but it can be useful. Multiple people from your household can have access to the camera and this way; you also see when someone else already checked up on things.

Recorded videos can be downloaded to your mobile phone’s storage, but only three videos every 30 days. The limit can be a bit annoying at times, but it keeps things free from monthly subscriptions.

Cocoon stores events for the last seven days only, so there’s no need to worry about old videos. Those are automatically removed to make room for the new ones.

Setup and Information

There aren’t a whole lot of settings available, but there are a few things. Of course, we’ll look at them too. Your household is shown with Google Maps satellite view in the Household page and you can get a view of the Subsound system from the settings too.

The household can be configured and connected with Amazon Alexa; you can add more family members, and edit your Cocoon’s name. You can also get detailed information and support from the dropdown menu.

With the most recent update, Cocoon also works with Google Home now. This function is already live in iOS and will be coming to Android shortly.

When activity happens, you’ll be notified as you would from any other app. You can open the activity with a single click and determine whether it’s a threat or not.

If you see something like this, then it might be time to hit that alarm button. That’s also the time when you’ll want to save the video as further evidence and call the cops.
