Cooler Master Masterbox 5t Chassis Review

Complete System

Building a system inside the 5t was super easy, and we can see it being a welcoming chassis for first time builders and pros alike. Cable management looks pretty decent, not perfect, but more than good enough for keeping things clean and airflow unrestricted.

The GPU has plenty of room here, and while there’s not a more direct option for routing the GPU cables, they’re not impossible to get looking neat and tidy. There’s plenty of width to the chassis too, so some wider cards or those fitted with water cooling should fit with ease.

Length isn’t a problem for the GPU either, with a huge amount of room to spare in the front, which could also be eaten up with a thick radiator and extra fans if you so desire.

Cable routing around the motherboard isn’t perfect, but there are holes all over the place… pick one, you can’t go far wrong.

The shroud is a welcome touch to any chassis in my opinion. This one is only plastic, but it looks great and since it can be removed via a single thumbscrew, getting in an hooking up your PSU is super easy, and it also helps you hide a whole lot of cable gore.

The CPU clearance is excellent, so larger air cooler will not be an issue here, and with a 120/140mm mount at the top, as well as a 120mm in the front, or even the (up to) 360mm in the front, fitting a custom loop, or any of the popular AIO water coolers on the market should be easy.

Now that we’ve got all the panels back in place, you can really appreciate just how clear that side panel window is! The view of the interior is very bright, so keeping your cable management in check becomes more important for those who care about aesthetics. The PSU shroud will help a lot here, so be sure to make good use of the extra space it provides.

The final trick from the 5t? Enabling TURBO MODE! OK, it’s not actually called that as far as we know, but there’s a funky red LED strip in the base of the front panel that gives it that street racer underglow. If you don’t like the light, simply leave the Molex header disconnected from your PSU.

We think it looks great, and if you’ve already bought into the contrasting black and red theme, then it’s just the icing on the cake.
