Cooler Master are always producing some of the best cases on the market and their latest release looks like no exception to that trend. The CM 690 III which we saw at Computex 2013 is the successor to the CM 690 II chassis. The CM 690 III features a redesigned interior with a new HDD/SSD combination cage that allows for 3.5 inch and 2.5 inch hard drives or SSDs to be deployed in ever slot depending on what the users want. Their is a total capacity of up to 10 SSDs and one SSD behind the motherboard tray so you really can have lots of fast storage with this case.CM_690_III_2With the SSD/HDD combo cage removed end users can support up to 423mm long graphics cards while in terms of CPU coolers the case can support up to 171mm which accounts for most really tall CPU coolers. Cooler Master have implemented a new revision of their “EZ-Tray” ODD system for those who have 5.25 inch drives or devices to mount.CM_690_III_3

In terms of cooling the case comes pre-fitted with a 200mm intake and 120mm exhaust. It supports dual 240mm radiators, one in the front and one at the top. There is also space for a 120mm radiator by the rear exhaust. If you use the smallest fan options then the case supports up to 9 fans but you can also use three 200mm fans if you prefer larger fans. All intakes are meshed with dust filters.

I’ve got the CM 690 II Advance and it has been going strong for a good few years and has done well to accommodate extra hard drives and PCI cards over the years too. It’s a solid case so this looks like it’s going to be good too. I think I might use this in my next build.

I’m a big fan of CM’s 690 range. I have a black & white version which I still use for one of my office PC’s so I’m looking forward to getting to grips with their latest offering. I hope they send me one without the side window so I can lay claim to it.
