Cooler Master is causing a bit of a stir in the AIO market as they have decided to sue Silverstone, Enermax, and their OEM Apaltek, for patent infringement on their AIO Liquid coolers, clearly taking some notes from the Asetek lawsuit throughout the 2010s.
This lawsuit was shared by TechPowerUp and has been filed with the United States District Court in the Central District of California against Silverstone, Enermax and Apaltek who are the supplier for both companies. Cooler Master alleges that the companies violate the US. Patent Numbers 10,509,446; 11,061,450; and D856,941. The products that violate the patents are as follows:
The patent’s concern the “pump-inside-radiator” design which is a Cooler Master invention, as is the ARGB mini-controller listed above. Cooler Master seeks damages and legal costs in relief. A defendant actually reached out to TechPowerUp with comments and accused Cooler Master of being a “bully” whilst pointing out the hypocrisy of the lawsuit from Asetek against Cooler Master, and mentioned how MSI, who are also supplied by Apaltek, were not a part of this lawsuit.
If the Asetek Vs Cooler Master lawsuit is anything to go by, 2013-2017, this one will likely drag out as well. For now all we can do is agree that Cooler Master is a bully and wait and see what happens.
