Final Thoughts

Pricing

The 100R series is set to launch very soon and it’s certainly going to be affordable. The 100R Silent I reviewed today will set you back £48.98 and the 100R windowed edition will be £40.98, although I wouldn’t be surprised if a few retailers did some better details at launch.

Overview

Corsair has really delivered a great product here and while there is essentially nothing new or innovative on offer, it ticks all the right boxes. The 100R Silent I looked at today is a great product and it offers incredibly competitive value for money. You’ve got a pair of good quality fans on the interior, a built-in fan controller on the back and thick sound dampening material throughout; a fan controller and the sound dampening could easily cost you £20-30 to add to a chassis yourself!

The windowed edition of the 100R also looks to be a great chassis, as it has the huge side panel window to show off your build and two extra fan mounts in the top that could be used for a radiator. However, it doesn’t have the sound dampening material or the fan controller. While it is cheaper to get the window model, I personally think you’re getting a better deal with the 100R Silent, but that really depends on what you want from your own system build.

The build quality is very good overall. The panels are durable, the front panel plastics are nicely finished, there’s dust filtering where you need it and two good quality fans on the interior. What I am pleased to see is an attention to detail. The interior is really nicely finished, all cables are black with black fittings, there’s a lot of cable routing cut-outs in practical locations and there’s tool-free installation for 3.5″ and 5.25″ drives, so getting a great looking build should be easy – although this is more for those who will have a side panel window.

Pros

  • Good build quality
  • Smart aesthetics inside and out
  • Built-in fan controller (Silent model only)
  • Pre-installed sound dampening material (Silent model only)
  • Large side panel window (Window model only)
  • Two good quality fans pre-installed
  • Dust filters

Cons

  • Limited space for dual GPU setup (given the length of most mid to high-end cards)

Neutral

  • Only four hard drive bays, although this is likely not an issue for most users

“The 100R Silent may not be the most original product ever, but it offers all the features we have come to expect from a premium brand like Corsair, with a price tag that’s very kind to your wallet. If you’re building a new system, this is certainly worth putting on your shopping list. A great product overall, but the 100R Silent is certainly better value for money, despite its slightly higher price tag.”
