Corsair CX750F RGB Power Supply Review

How Much Does it Cost?

Set to retail for a price in the region of £89.99 (regardless of whether you prefer it in the black or white model) the Corsair CX850F RGB represents some solid value for a PSU of this wattage output and, in particular, one that has the added bonus of RGB lighting effects.

Yes, admittedly, RGB isn’t for everyone. Considering that I’m only aware of one other brand that offers lighting on power supplies, however, this is definitely a factor that helps this model stand out from the pack.

Performance

In terms of the performance tests and our detailed look at the design and components, it’s genuinely impossible to find anything notable to criticize about the Corsair CX750F. Admittedly, it’s may on the surface just appear to be yet another ‘bronze’ power supply in what feels like an oversaturated market, but in terms of its design and functionality, it’s definitely up there with the best.

Practicality & Functionality

With RGG control coming from Corsairs iCUE software or through ARGB motherboards, you can freely adjust the lighting to suit whatever tastes you have. Admittedly, RGB isn’t for everyone. That being said though, it’s an added feature that you don’t often see on what is, even without it, still an excellent power supply.

Should I Buy One?

Corsair is one of the most recognizable and trusted PC hardware brands around. It is no secret that most people have at least one components of theirs within their system. As such, with the Corsair CX750F coming with a 5-year warranty, although this PSU should last well beyond that remit, it’s a sign of assurance that Corsair believes this power supply has been built to last and based on what we can see, it’s hard to disagree.

At the risk of repeating myself, RGB lighting is not for everyone. Particularly in power supplies where the jury is still out on whether this is a feature or an unnecessary novelty. Given the price that this retails for, however, to us, we can only view it as an added bonus. Put simply, if you’re currently in the market for a new PSU, these RGB lighting effects might just be just enough to tip the scales in favor of this power supply. In all honesty though, even without them, this would still be a more than excellent PSU!
