Corsair Dark Core RGB SE & MM1000 Wireless Review

A Closer Look – Dark Core

The Dark Core comes bundled with a lovely braided USB cable, wireless dongle, USB adaptor, and a swappable right side panel to tweak the ergonomics.

Everything looks and feels very nicely finished, as you would expect from a high-end product from Corsair.

Dark Core

The mouse looks properly fantastic, with a sleek and rather streamlined design. Down the left side, you’ll find a sweeping ergonomic wing, providing a comfortable thumb rest.

There’s a deep recess for the thumb control, with three buttons, two for usual navigation and one that could work as a sniper button. Of course, all are fully programmable.

The mouse comes with a unique two-tone design, with a lightly textured top panel that looks stunning with its bumpy design.

Sweeping Ergonomics

The nose of the mouse sweeps down quite far, making it fit the palm of your hand perfectly. Of course, the long switch design makes it comfortable to control with your fingers laid flat, or a fingertip/claw style grip.

The mouse features a large scroll wheel with a soft rubber grip for added control. The wheel is clickable, and RGB lit, and there’s another control switch set just behind it also. If that’s not enough, you’ll also find two switches on recessed into the side of the LMB.

The right side panel is removable. With the stock panel in place, it’s easier for a claw grip playstyle.

However, with the alternative panel in place, you get a small wing that’s perfect for resting your fingers on.

I love a wide mouse for my wide hands, so having this design so that my hand isn’t dragging on the mouse mat, is just fantastic.

Three Ways to Connect

The base of the mouse features plentiful slipmats, allowing the mouse to glide effortlessly. There’s a small switch to toggle Bluetooth or 2.4GHz connections. However, keep in mind that you’ll need the USB dongle for the 2.4 GHz mode. There’s also a micro-USB port towards the front for charging or conventional wired mode operation.

As a child still in my 30's (but not for long), I spend my day combining my love of music and movies with a life-long passion for gaming, from arcade classics and retro consoles to the latest high-end PC and console games. So it's no wonder I write about tech and test the latest hardware while I enjoy my hobbies!
