The chassis we used is the Corsair 500D, which is available for £127.95 – £199.99 depending on the version. However, that’s not what you came to this review for. The HX 750 80 Plus Platinum PSU can be picked up for just £134.99. Furthermore, the custom PSU cables are £50 – £75 and is available in white, red, blue, black and some combinations of the each. The Premium PCIe 3.0 16x is just £43.38, while the braided front panel cable extensions are just £28.92.
It’s no secret that Corsair has a huge range of products. From storage devices to RGB keyboards, it seems they have a bit of everything for the enthusiast PC user. Their latest range of products is nothing particularly new to them either. However, they are the latest iterations of some of their most popular modding products. For pro modders, I’m sure they have some appeal. However, anyone can grab these pre-sleeved cables, riser cables and more, and easily put their mark on their own PC with minimal fuss.
What’s great is that you only need to buy what you need. It’s still not going to be massively cheap, these are premium add-ons. However, ordering a few cables instead of the full kit for your PSU could save you a fair bit. The riser cable may seem expensive to some, but it’s actually one of the most affordable on the market right now. There are cheaper, but not built to this standard there aren’t, and I can’t recommend it enough.
I love that Corsair also has things like braided SATA cables and cable combs. Certainly not the most prominent details in a build. However, if you’re dropping a few thousand on a high-end build, those little details really stand out. Attention to detail can make or break the aesthetics, so well done Corsair for taking note.
Well, that’s obviously subjective. The HX 750 PSU on its own is a mighty upgrade for most, and one of the best PSU on the market today. That with say, the 500D, which is one of the best chassis on the market too. Everything else is very subjective. The new cables, combs, riser cables and other accessories aren’t going to make your PC faster. However, aesthetics are as much a big part of the PC market as they are of the automotive market these days. They’re all great products, but let us know in the comments which ones are right for you!
