Corsair K65 Plus Wireless 75% Mechanical Gaming Keyboard Review

How Much Does it Cost?

The Corsair K65 Plus Wireless 75% Mechanical Gaming Keyboard is available from today with an MSRP of £149.99, which I think is a fair price given the level of features, build quality and connectivity on offer. It’s a premium quality product and I think the price reflects that, and while there are cheaper rivals on the market, they won’t really match the feature set on offer from Corsair’s latest keyboard.

Overview

Corsair has long been one of the best in the business and certainly one of the most popular too. Their cases, coolers, power supplies, and countless other products continue to be a dominant presence in the enthusiast PC market, and it’s clear that the new K65 Plus Wireless 75% Mechanical Gaming Keyboard is yet another welcome addition to that legacy.

Admittedly, this type of keyboard isn’t for everyone, it’s not overpriced, but it’s not exactly “cheap” either. It has a lot of features and a form factor that won’t be to everyone’s taste, but that’s fine, it’s not like Corsair doesn’t make a large range of keyboards, so I’m sure they have something for everyone. However, if you do like more compact TKL-style designs, this is certainly one of the best-equipped models in this form factor.

I like that it is so versatile too, offering native support for both Mac and PC users alike thanks to a switch on the back. However, it also has Bluetooth support with three hot-swappable device profiles, 2.4 GHz low-latency wireless using the included USB dongle, and wired support via a Type-C cable, which can also be used to charge the batteries. It means it’s going to be suited to a wide range of use types, even if most users are likely to just stick with any one of those modes and functions.

The build quality is top-notch, and I really can’t fault any aspect of the materials, assemble and aesthetics of this keyboard. The durable keycaps look and feel very professional, especially since they have no RGB passthrough on the lettering, so the fonts look nice and crisp on the keys even without the lighting being turned on. However, there is still plenty of RGB with a powerful iCUE system that provides ambient and underlighting effects to the keys. The mixture of black, grey and blue is a nice twist too, it may not be to everyone’s taste, but visually I think it’s one of the nicest keyboards I’ve seen in a long time.

Should I Buy One?

The Corsair K65 Plus Wireless 75% Mechanical Keyboard is rock solid thanks to durable components and excellent construction. The linear red Corsair switches are sublime, with light and fast performance that’s well suited to a day of fast typing and an evening of relentless gaming without making your hands feel too tired, while the keyboard also sounds quieter than previous Corsair keyboards I’ve tested, which is a step in the right direction. I’d have liked to see a wrist rest included, but that’s hardly a deal breaker given the quality of the keyboard. Overall, with its plethora of onboard and software customisation options and extensive connectivity capabilities, it’s a great all-around keyboard.
