Corsair QL120 & QL140 iCue RGB Fans Review

A Closer Look

Everything comes very nicely packaged, with each of the fans in their own protective box. There’s a smaller box included, which houses all the cables, the lighting node hub, etc.

The node comes pre-wired with an internal USB header and SATA power connector. There’s a double-sided 3M pad for fixing it into your case, and 12 grub screws for fitting the fans.

The node its self is pretty compact, and features ports on each side, allowing for up to 6 RGB cables to be connected.

The fans themselves come with two cables on the side. The first is the 4-pin PWM fan header which you’ll need to hook up to your motherboard, or your own fan hub, etc. The other is the RGB header, which you’ll need to hook up to the Node.

The corner of the fans features an anti-vibration mount. It’s integrated into the corner, rather than being a wedge on the corner its self. It’s a much cleaner look in my opinion.

The fans themselves look stunning, even with the RGB lighting off. There a thick white surround that shows on both sides of the fan, it runs right through the black frame. Then you have the slightly glossy but frosty finish fan blades, and even the central hub is the same.

I love the central detail though, with a milled metal finish and a tasteful Corsair ship logo in the centre.

The little details are here though, such as the cross finish on the sides, the flared corners, it all looks… cool. There’s nothing in the way of the white trim though, that’s where the lights are, and that’s what Corsair want to show off the most.

Tucked into the fan are 34 individually addressable RGB LED lights. What’s neat is that seems to be 17 on each side of the fan, meaning you could have the back of the fan red, the front white, or whatever you want. Pretty cool if you’re mounting them in the case, or on a radiator as that can dictate which side of the fan you’ll see.

Here we have the QL140’s and as you might expect, they look pretty much identical. The obvious exception being that they’re slightly larger at 140mm each.
