Corsair Releases New SHIFT Power Supply Range

Corsair has decided the days of desperately fiddling around to reach the cables through the nest behind your power supply are over, as they have just released their new range of RMx SHIFT Power Supplies with a new unique design of having its cables come out of the side rather than the back of the unit, this new and interesting design has the goal to make managing the cable clutter in your builds a much simpler task. The cable connectors coming from the side allow for them to be seen much more clearly and allows for easy removal and installation without having to remove the unit from your case. When compared to a standard PSU layout this method is a lot less fiddly, especially when you have full drive cages in your case; this design also results in less strain and bending on the cables.

The SHIFT range is fully modular and comes in models of 750w, 850w, 1000w and 1200w with an 80+ gold efficiency rating as well as being ATX 3.0 certified and PCIe 5.0 compliant. This unit is perfect for the latest and future gaming systems, especially when backed with Corsair’s 10-year warranty.

The SHIFT Also includes Corsair’s new Type-5 micro fit modular cables with a right-angled construction to better accommodate this new design and reduce bending in the cables. As well as including the new 12VHPWR cable, the standard 6+2 PCIe cables are also included for complete compatibility with non-12VHPWR graphics cards.

With its 80+ Gold efficiency, the SHIFT comes with 100% 105°C-rated Japanese electrolytic capacitors. The Shift cools this with a 140mm fluid dynamic bearing fan utilizing a special fan curve maximising high performance, low noise and superior reliability. Also featuring a zero RPM mode for a near-silent operation at low loads.

  • 140mm Fluid Bearing fan with Zero RPM mode at low loads.
  • 100% 105°C-rated Japanese electrolytic capacitors
  • Fully Modular Corsair Type 5 Cables
  • ATX 3.0 Certified
  • PCIe 5.0 12VHPWR Compatible

Case compatibility is the most important question when it comes to a new design like this one and luckily Corsair has done its testing. Corsair states that the SHIFT requires ‘30mm‘ of clearance to accommodate this new design and has tested this in all their cases to confirm compatibility and will also be testing third-party cases and will update its database on compatibility.
