Corsair SP2500 2.1 PC Speaker System Review

The speaker market is severely flooded when it comes to PC systems, but its mainly at the lower-end of the scale and while these have their place for the budget user, they aren’t exactly record breaking and don’t pierce your eardrums as we all want, even if it hurts and makes your nose bleed. For this type of performance, there are only a few systems on the market, and these comes mainly from the likes of Logitech or similar brands but are also generally seen to be in the form of 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound kits. For the 2.1 market, there really isn’t a lot of choice available for someone who doesn’t mind spending a bit extra to get the quality they hope for, which is where Corsair have stepped in to provide a solution and they’ve done a great job at doing so too.

Starting off with the looks, the satellites can only be described as mini bookshelf speakers like we’d expect from Mission, KEF and Mordaunt Short and the sound quality is almost up there with them too. While you’ll pay almost double the price for the hi-fi brands mentioned, the SP2500 units do offer fantastic sound quality and levels for the money and that’s without even looking at the sheer power that the sub offers.

I actually used to run an intensive Mission/Mordaunt Short 5.1 setup through a Marantz AV Receiver so I know all about pure unadulterated noise, and I also know how much it can set you back so taking the SP2500’s into perspective is quite easy. The subwoofer certainly packs a punch when you want it to, but also has the ability (thanks to the remote) to leave it on a faint murmur when wanting to experience full effects but without annoying your neighbours.

The main selling point for these speakers is of course the performance, but it’s all well and good getting that but if it costs you an arm and a leg, it doesn’t shout out to a consumer in this day and age, unless of course you are a millionaire. This is where the SP2500’s really do tick another box, coming in around £180 making them fantastic value for money for what’s on offer, and I’d quite happily purchase these for myself and also recommend them to friends and family and of course you; our loyal readers.

As this is the first time I’ve seen anything like this from Corsair (barring their Vengeance 2000 headphones, which are also amazing in terms of quality) I was a bit skeptic but I now know that I had no reason to be, as these simple are one of the best quality sounding products I’ve ever used for sub £200. The only time you are ever going to get anything better than this, will involved investing heavily into a studio set of speakers as I mentioned earlier, and that will cost you big bucks, around £1500 + and that’s a big decision to make.

The bottom line is; if you’re after an amazing 2.1 set of speakers, no matter whether you are gaming, watching movies or listening to music or of course a combination, you will not be disappointed in the Corsair SP2500 2.1 PC speaker system as it simply ticks all of the right boxes and more.
