How Much Does it Cost?
The Cougar MG130-G is available now from Amazon UK and, well, it’s WAY cheaper than you might think. Despite having a tempered glass panel, a PSU shroud, and all kinds of cool features, its MSRP is just £37.99. However, there’s a slightly different front panel on the MG120-G, and that’s only £32.38! It was out of stock in the US, but you can keep an eye on stock and prices here.
Overview
The Cougar MG130-G is easily one of my favourite cases for 2020, it’s not quite perfect, but I’ll be damned if you can beat what it has to offer at this price. It has no business being anywhere near as nice as it is for little over £30. The flaws are minor though, such as the complete lack of a front fan, and those rear PCI slot covers are a snap-off design rather than reusable. Other than that though, I think it’s great!
Build Quality
There are a few compromises, as to be expected at this price range. The front panel isn’t as metallic as it looks, it’s just plastic. However, they didn’t skimp on the quality elsewhere, as the front panel and PSU still get slide out, good quality dust filters. The rear fan they’ve used is really nice quality. Plus, you get that big tinted tempered glass window. The whole thing feels robust, and it looks well put together too. There’s a lot more premium here than there is “budget” and that’s a good thing (obviously).
Added Value
I’m amazed at just how much you get for your money here. For example, you get that PSU shroud, which comes with two additional SSD mounts on top of it, additional cable routing cut-outs, and a cut-out to allow for a 280mm radiator in the front of the case. Plus, you get a removable/movable 3.5″ HDD cage under the shroud, which also come with two tool-free drive trays. There’s great cable routing space, liquid cooling mounts, USB 3.0 support. Overall, there are no really big compromises.
Should I Buy One?
It’s a no brainer actually. If you need or just want an mATX PC case this one is pretty fantastic. Not only is the price unbeatable, but the style, build quality, and features put it ahead of anything else in this price range by quite a big margin.
