Creative Outlier Air V2 True Wireless Headphones Review

How Much Does it Cost?

I think the most amazing thing about these headphones is that they only cost £69.99. Or at least, they do now, as they actually launched at £74.99, which I still think is excellent value for money. You get a quality product from a long-standing and trusted brand, with a strong history in audio hardware. Sure, there are a lot of no-name copy cats out there at even lower prices, but I’d personally stay well clear.

Overview

Creative continue to dominate at everything they do. I’m a long time fan of the brand, and I make no excuses to hide that fact. However, given the broad range of products I test on a daily basis and the number of audio reviews I’ve done over the last 10 years, I think it’s high praise that I pick them for my personal audio.

The Outlier Gold I reviewed a year ago are still my daily headphones for my walks and for travelling, at least, what little I’ve done this year. They sound remarkable thanks to their powerful drivers and the Super X-Fi or SXFI processing that they offer. They are a more premium version of the original Outlier though, so they offer more battery life than the V2, but they are slightly heavier too, so it’s give and take.

Creative has really nailed the build quality of these too, with a strong mixture of nicely finished plastics and lightly textured aluminium giving them a premium quality look and feel. Everything is fit extremely tight too, there are no gaps or wobbly panels. Of course, it’s no surprise then that they’re IPX5 certified.

Should I Buy Them?

There’s no shortage of impressive headphones these days, but the Creative Outlier V2 offer more than enough to stand out from the crowd. They’re stylish, powerful, and have both fantastic battery life and sound quality. Plus, while many headphones may dazzle with their sound quality, the addition of SXFI processing pushes these ahead in my opinion. You’ll struggle to find better headphones under £100.

As a child still in my 30's (but not for long), I spend my day combining my love of music and movies with a life-long passion for gaming, from arcade classics and retro consoles to the latest high-end PC and console games. So it's no wonder I write about tech and test the latest hardware while I enjoy my hobbies!
