Crucial Ballistix Sport XT DDR3 1866MHz 16GB Review

A Closer Look

The memory kit uses a very aggressive styling. There is an aluminium heat spreader in a light blue that uses silver textured accents. The kit uses green PCBs which may put some off, though Crucial are only targeting the mainstream user and budget gamer.

With it installed in your system the kit actually has a very rugged look. The green PCBs are broadly hidden by the over-sized heat spreader and we can see this memory kit teaming up perfectly with Gigabyte’s GA-Z87X-UD3H motherboard that uses blue-accented heatsinks.

These modules are quite tall so you’ll definitely have to watch out for memory compatibility with certain tower heatsinks. Though most people seem to be opting for 120mm AIOs these days anyway.
