As previously discussed, the Crucial Ballistix Tactical is able to work alongside a wide range of motherboards due to the subtle styling. Once the modules were installed in the ASUS Rampage V Extreme, the dark colour matched the PCB, power connectors and provided a good contrast with the black DIMM sockets. One aspect to remember is the gunmetal grey finish looks black in darker environments and the colour can alter depends on what angle the product is being viewed from.
The memory kit’s heatspreaders employ a similar colour as the stainless steel shielding commonly seen on Z170 or Broadwell-E motherboards. This makes it a great option for users who own a motherboard with silver lettering or any other elements sporting this attractive theme. Unfortunately, it’s not pictured in the testing motherboard but I’m pretty sure you can envisage this situation.
