At stock clocks, no CPU should really fail and the C7 certainly didn’t have any troubles. It clocked up +30c at full load, which is impressive, as it’s cooler than the CM Hyper 212X, and mops the floor with the similarly compact Noctua Nh-L9X65 and D9L. This is a very impressive score for such a tiny cooler.
I was going to say “oh my god, this is awful” but what were you expecting? This tiny cooler just doesn’t have the surface area or the airflow for heavy-duty overclocking. The CPU clocked out at +68c over ambient, which is pretty damn toasty. Dial back those clocks/volts, or stick with boost clocks and you’ll be fine.
Now this is very impressive, not on did the C7 beat out Noctua in terms of cooling performance, it’s head to head with the silence masters in acoustic performance. You literally couldn’t hear this fan turning, very impressive.
The little fan really had to work hard when we overclocked, again, we expected this. However, despite it maxing out just over 2500RPM, it’s not the loudest on our charts at only 43dBA, which is pretty impressive.
