Dead By Daylight is one of my most favourite games. Which is strange because at first, I didn’t like it. There was, however, a reason for that, it was because I didn’t understand it. Since then (and about 240 hours later) I’m pretty decent as both killer and survivor.
What has certainly helped my interest is that the game’s developers have been fairly regular in introducing new killers and characters. In recent years they have even managed to secure the rights to some pretty iconic horror characters. In the last year alone we have seen Michael Myers from Halloween, Leatherface, from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and most recently, Freddy Krueger from Nightmare on Elm Street.
The most recent teaser trailer suggests that they are about to land another major IP. Yes, it seems that Jigsaw (from the Saw franchise) might be coming to Dead By Daylight.
One of the major key points is that when a new killer is added, it really isn’t a lazy job. Each killer in Dead By Daylight has a unique set of abilities and each with the own advantages and disadvantages.
For example, Leatherface is quite a spritely mover and can knock down a survivor with a single charged attack, yet a missed attack can cause a huge cooldown. Freddy Krueger can draw people into the dream world and see their aura, but can’t attack those who are not asleep and has a rather limited view distance in the ‘day’ world.
Exactly what format Jigsaw will take is unclear. Frankly, even as a big fan, I’m not certain. I suspect that rather than being hooked, survivors might have a head trap fitted, but we will have to wait and see.
If you don’t already own Dead By Daylight, it’s definitely worth checking out.
