We were very impressed with the figures produced by this cooler. When I see air-coolers with RGB lighting, I can’t help but feel that the lighting may disguise some mediocre performance. However, in this instance, the Deep Cool Gammax GT provided a much better than expected punch; in brief, this performed well beyond my expectations.
While the performance figures are not mindblowing, it is certainly in some impressive company. The fact that it is able to compete with the brand new be quiet! Dark Rock 4 cooler is very impressive. Of course, this doesn’t match the height of some of the bigger coolers, but again, remember that this is a single fan air cooler. In that context, it does exceptionally well in standard performance.
It’s in the Overclocked mode that my opinion of this processor really peaked. Even in overclocked mode, this cooler gave some impressive figures. While some may consider 71c to be a little toasty for an Intel processor, this was the average maximum achieved under full load. In this instance, it has outperformed many bigger and better-known brands. It’s something of a victory for the plucky Gammax GT.
The Deep Cool Gammax GT is not a quiet cooler. That being said though, it wasn’t necessarily specifically designed to be either. It’s pretty clear that performance is the key focus of the results in this regard, however, I would still note that despite this not having the silent turn of other coolers, I still found it perfectly within reason.
At full overclocked load, the fan was quite loud, but not obtrusively so. Bearing in mind the price of this cooler, you generally tend to find you either get performance or quietness. If the CPU load figures had been worse, I might not have been so forgiving. Given that this did perform so well in that area thought lets me forgive any shortfall in regards to the noise.
