DeepCool AK500 Air CPU Cooler Review

Installation
I always consider a good quality manual to typically make or break how easy it is to install a CPU cooler and in regards to the DeepCool AK500, while it’s certainly light on written details (and by light, I mean none at all), the diagrams are both detailed and numerous which clearly indicate exactly what goes where, when, and how.
While it could be larger and glossier, overall, the manual for the DeepCool AK500 is excellent.
Mounting
The mounting system to the motherboard is incredibly straightforward and anyone with even a mild bit of experience in installing CPU coolers will feel entirely at home here. No, DeepCool hasn’t attempted to reinvent the wheel, and when compared to some of those bizarre methodologies some manufacturers are now using, I’m exceptionally grateful for it.
What about that screwdriver DeepCool gives you though? Usually getting tools to install a CPU cooler is not a pleasant sign! – Well, given that you have a rather chunky radiator this is needed to fix the cooler onto the mounting bracket. The good news though is that this is an incredibly easy process as the top cap to the radiator simply comes off allowing you access.
Once you’ve got your mounting bracket and thermal paste ready, simply pop the radiator on and insert the screw driver down the hole to fix it. – Admittedly, the screw driver could’ve benefited from being a little longer, but on the whole, this is a pretty easy process. And, of course, once you’re done the radiator cap simply clips back on in place.
Overall Thoughts
From out of the box and onto our test bench, the DeepCool AK500 only took me around 8 minutes to install. Even despite the fact that its a bit of a chunky cooler, the methodology to fit this onto your processor is very straightforward and more so easy to understand.
Once in place too, I think many will agree that the DeepCool AK500 looks highly attractive with an aesthetic that wouldn’t look out of place in practically any setup. – So, the DeepCool AK500 has a solid design, a solid aesthetic, and is about as easy as it gets when it comes to installation. So, I guess it’s now time to fire our test bench up and see if its cooling performance will be able to match them!
