DeepCool V6000 VGA Cooler Review

Installation

All black RAM and VRM heatsinks are supplied by DeepCool. Hopefully they will be of acceptable quality to cool our furious VRM components.

Attaching the 92mm fans to the heatsink requires the use of the included wire fan clips. It can be awkward to lock the fans and clip the bottom of the flaps into the appropriate channel cut into the underside of the heatsink.

4 metal ‘spring nuts’ ensure the V6000 is held securely in place on our graphics card.

The DeepCool V6000 is very aesthetically appealing when installation is finally completed. The blue fan blades stand out against the black frame but aren’t overpowering or too ‘in your face’.

The 4 slot design may cause interference issues with certain motherboards or cases, but if you use a standard ATX motherboard and case, size problems shouldn’t exist. Unfortunately, just as we have observed with other VGA coolers, there is a slight degree of PCB bend on our graphics card while using this heatsink although some of the bend is inherited from the coolers we have previously tested on this graphics card.

DeepCool’s V6000 does have a rather attractive appeal when paired with our test system. A standard 3-pin motherboard fan header is used to connect the two 92mm fans.

Overall, installation was thankfully fairly straightforward albeit very time consuming. The instruction manual could definitely do with some improvement as it is a little bare in explaining some procedures which would definitely cause a problem for novices. Development of an easier fan installation method would be very useful because it was awkward to clamp the fan clips in place whilst trying to avoid damaging the aluminium cooling fins.
