Der8auer Has Unveiled a New Ryzen 7000 Direct Die WaterBlock

Roman “Der8auer” Hartung, a German overclocking expert has unveiled his new Ryzen 7000 direct die waterblock.

Der8auer Direct Die Waterblock For Ryzen 7000

This block from Der8auer uses a direct die design which replaces the stock IHS on the Ryzen 7000 CPU to make direct contact with the processor chiplets and in turn lead to much cooler temperatures when compared to standard liquid coolers. This design of course requires the user to remove the IHS so it is aimed at enthusiasts who are comfortable enough in doing so. The block uses Der8bauer’s existing high-performance heat spreader for AM5 which is manufactured with diamond-milled-precision surfacing that provides an extremely flat surface for maximum surface area. You can view Der8bauer’s full video on the process below.

Performance

The block was tested with a Ryzen 9 7900x at 5GHz against four different scenarios, stock 280mm AIO, 280mm AIO with AM5 High-Performance Heatspreader, then the same with the offset bracket and finally the Corsair XC7 Pro direct die. With just the 280 AIO the CPU reached up to 90 degrees with the addition of the heatspreader dropping it to the high 70s. When the new Mycro direct die block was brought in the temperatures stayed at a low 60 degrees which is a very impressive drop.

Price and Availability

For overclockers and enthusiasts, this is a great piece of kit if you’re willing to remove the IHS from your Ryzen 7000 chip. The block will be available in both RGB and non-RGB versions priced around €140 and €100 respectively.
