Today EK WaterBlocks has revealed their brand new EK-Quantum Impulse 120 D-RGB Magnetic levitation fans. These premium Impulse fans feature EK’s most abundant RGB implementation to date, with two LED-lit zones in the frame carrying 12 LEDs each, with another inside the rotor.
EK-Quantum Impulse 120mm D-RGB
The EK-Quantum Impulse are 120mm case fans which are optimised for rich and lush D-RGB effects whilst also maintaining silent operation across their entire range. The fans feature an LED-lit zone across the frame which is seen from either side of the fan making it shine in any orientation. The rotor is also illuminated by a D-RGB strip for stylish aesthetics while spinning.
Quiet Operation
The Quantum Impulse make use of a Maglev VAPO bearing which is designed to eliminate wobbling. This bearing ensures that the fan remains stable in all applications as well as ensures a much quieter operation when compared to traditional ball-bearing fans. These VAPO bearings are dust resistant and have an operating range of 400-1800 RPM.
Also reducing vibrations are the thick rubber pads on the corners of both sides of the fans. These rubber pads reduce vibration transfer to the rest of the pc ensuring a significantly quieter operation. The fan itself is 26mm thick and the rubber corners at 1.5mm on both sides bring it to a total depth of 29mm.
Daisy Chaining With EK-Omnilink
Making use of EK-Omnilink allows for these fans to be daisy-chained together which helps reduce the cable clutter in your system. Utilising a 9-pin Micro-Fit connector all the signal and power for the PWM and D-RGB runs through one single cable which is then transferred to a standard 4-pin PWM for the fan power and a 3-pin 5V for the D-RGB.
