EKWB Now Offers M.2 NVMe Heatsink Solution
Ron Perillo / 3 years ago
Slovenia-based EK water blocks has a new M.2 NVMe heatsink solution designed for the next generation of SSD storage. Usually, the company makes liquid cooled products but the new M.2 NVMe heatsink solution is passively air cooled. As current M.2 NVMe SSD owners know, thermal throttling can be a problem which drops drive performance significantly. EK promises at least an 8 to 11-degree Celcius difference, and more if there is better airflow.
Available in Black and Nickel Variant
Like most of EK’s water blocks, the new M.2 heatsink solution is available in two color variants: black and nickel. The black color obviously goes well with most motherboards out there. The nickel version perfectly matches new silver motherboards such as MSI’s Titanium series.
Features and Compatibility
The heatsink design is simple as it relies on ambient airflow coming from the front. The fins are parallel lengthwise so that the heat gets picked up by passing airflow and exits at the back. The heatsink is compatible with the most common M.2 2280 form factor (80mm long). It consists of a front and back piece, thus compatibility is limited to 4.2mm thick drives.
Pricing and Availability
The M.2 heatsink solution is now available via EK’s webshop or EK’s partner network. The nickel version costs 12.94€ with VAT included, while the black version is slightly more affordable at only 9.96€.
