Final Thoughts

Price

The Element Gaming Iridium 820 Laser Gaming Mouse is available exclusively from eBuyer for a very reasonable £22.98. This is a seriously good deal for a mouse of this specification and quality, giving a heck of a lot of rival brands a good run for their money.

Overview

Once again I’m blown away by Element Gaming. Their latest gaming mouse isn’t the greatest mouse in the world, although what would be is subjective anyway. However, it’s still a very competitive mouse, that’s packed with enough features to satisfy a huge part of the gaming market, at a price tag that’s going to appeal to a lot of people. Time and time again we’ve seen mice that cost quite a lot of money, but the Iridium shows just how much value for money you can get these days vs some of the bigger names in the gaming market.

The build quality is pretty robust, with nice quality switches and a very good sensor overall. The adjustable body size is a welcome bonus, although that provided little benefit for my rather large and wide hands. The weight-tuning system isn’t particularly easy to swap out quickly, but it’s not like it’s something you’re going to need to do every day. Being able to tweak the size and weight of the mouse is certainly a nice addition to have though, especially so at this price range where features are often limited.

The software could certainly do with a smarten up, as it’s currently a little hard on the eyes in terms of layout and colour. I do, however, like that there are a lot of features there, such as full range DPI adjustment, from 200 right up to 8200 DPI, as well as separate X/Y axis adjustments for pointer speed, and full button remapping and editing.

Pros

  • Great sensor performance
  • Adjustable body length
  • Weight-tuning system
  • Lots of features in software
  • Braided cable
  • Fully programmable buttons
  • Exceptional value for money

Cons

  • Ergonomics not ideal for those with larger/wider than average hands
  • Software design could be improved
  • Driver software cannot be downloaded

“The Element Gaming Iridium 820 is a great mouse, packed full of features that you would expect from a product that costs twice as much! This is a great mouse for many PC gamers, not just those on a tight budget.”
