Enermax SpineRex Full Tower Case Review

The interior of the case is painted entirely in black which is sure to make your components stand out well.  It will also correspond aesthetically with any components you choose to install.  Being a full tower case, there is plenty of room to work with inside the chassis.

One rather disappointing aspect of the SpineRex is the lack of fans included with the case.  Not only are there no fans in the roof but there isn’t a rear exhaust fan either.  There is room for two fans in the roof of the case and one in the rear, though.

Over on the right hand side of the case there is no fewer than eleven 5.25″ drive bays.  There are two caddies which sit within these to house your 3.5″ hard drives, meaning you can install up to eight 3.5″ drives in total.  Each of these caddies takes up three drive bays so you will have to sacrifice three 5.25″ bays for every four 3.5″ drives you want to install.  There are no mounting points for 2.5″ drives in the case, though.

Removing these drive caddies is a little annoying as it must be done through the front of the case.  This means you have to remove three of the drive bay covers, unscrew a fan and then pull it out.  The fan and drive bay covers then have to be replaced.

There is space in the base of the case for a full size power supply with a dust filtered vent facing the floor.  This filter should stop too much dust and carpet fluff from being distributed throughout your power supply.
