The Oculus Quest 2 has proven to be an exceptionally popular gateway into the world of virtual reality. In terms of sales, the headset has proven to be a hit among consumers. Not just from the point of view that it’s good, but comparatively speaking, it’s quite affordable! – Following a report via TechPowerUp, however, if you were looking to get yourself one in the near future, then you might have to wait a little while as Facebook has confirmed a temporary halt of sales.

Before anyone starts panicking, and particularly so if they’re currently sat staring at their receipt from an Oculus Quest 2 purchase from just a couple of days ago, we should note that the issue affecting the VR headset isn’t a particularly serious one and, overall, only appears to be affecting a very isolated number of users. – So, what is the problem? Well, it basically boils down to the silicon cover surrounding the headset itself. Facebook has confirmed it has received around 5,716 complaints from owners regarding skin irritations, with 45 of them apparently requiring further medical attention.

Given that the Oculus Quest 2 has reportedly shifted around 4.2 million units so far, however, we daresay that Facebook feels fairly comfortable in taking a couple of weeks out to swap this out for a presumably different compound.

What Happens Now?

As above, it should literally just be a few weeks before Facebook gets the Oculus Quest 2 back on sale, and as such, if you were just ready to pull the trigger on your VR headset purchase, the good news is that you’re not going to have to wait too long before they go back on sale. In credit to Facebook, we should note that this has been an entirely voluntary move. At least at the time of writing, all Oculus Quest 2 within America and Canada can apply to return their headset to have the silicon replaced. However, if you’re not suffering from any sort of irritation problem, there doesn’t seem need to worry!
