Could Facebook Be Working on a Project Ara Style Phone?

It looks like Project Ara might not be completely dead, or at least something about it may still live on in the world of tech. While Google has pretty much abandoned the concept, it looks like Facebook plans to do some mobile tinkering of its own.
It looks like Facebook has been on a hiring spree, snapping up many mobile experts, including a lot of top names from the Google Ara department. What will Facebook do with such a team? That remains to be seen, but the Project Ara team likely bring with them the same ideas they were pushing with Google, that modular phones are the future.
Personally, I would love a modular phone, having the option to take out a block and plug in a bigger battery, a more powerful camera, speakers, and so much more, could be an interesting product.
