Final Fantasy X/X-2 Remaster Coming to PC This Week

Without any formal announcement, it has been revealed that Square Enix is bringing the remastered versions of Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2 to PC. The news comes following the appearance of a Steam store page for the two games, which is showing 12th May as the provisional release date with no price yet attached.

Square Enix is yet to issue a press release or a blog post on the games’ PC ports, but speculation regarding the move has been building momentum for the last few weeks.

According to the Steam page, the PC version of Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster has the following key features:

  • Characters, monsters, and environments have been fine-tuned to HD detail, providing a richer, deeper FINAL FANTASY visual experience
  • Other features in the PC version include remastered/rearranged BGM,
  • International Edition content,
  • Auto-save and 5 game boosters including high speed and no encounter modes.

The page also lists the following PC specifications:

MINIMUM:

  • OS: Windows Vista or later
  • Processor: 2GHz Dual Core CPU
  • Memory: 1 GB RAM
  • Graphics: NVIDIA Geforce 9600GT VRAM 512MB or later / ATI Radeon HD 2600XT VRAM 512MB or later
  • Storage: 37 GB available space
  • Sound Card: DirectX Compatible Sound Card

RECOMMENDED:

  • OS: Windows Vista or late
  • Processor: 2.4GHz quad-core CPU
  • Memory: 2 GB RAM
  • Graphics: NVIDIA Geforce GTX 450 / AMD Radeon HD 5750 with 512MB
  • Storage: 40 GB available space
  • Sound Card: DirectX Compatible Sound Card

Once Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster is released on 12th May, that leaves only Final Fantasy, Final Fantasy II, and Final Fantasy XII from the main series absent on PC. Is a remaster of Final Fantasy XII due any time soon?
