Fractal Design Adjust 108 Fan Controller Review

In terms of style the Fractal Design Adjust 108 is a real winner, the brushed aluminium front panel looks fantastic with its black finish, it also feels good too which is fairly important giving the tactile input method of the device. The bi-colour LED lights provide a great visual flair to the overall style as well as a bit of feedback about your current power settings for each slider, handy if you have need to adjust those settings in a dark environment  Style-wise though I wouldn’t have expected anything less than brilliant from Fractal Design, they have proven themselves time and time again when it comes to making a great looking product and the same holds true here, even for a simple fan controller. The same can be said for build quality, the choice of materials and the thickness of the panels and mounts feel robust, just remember that aluminium can be scratched quite easily!

Performance was rock solid too and the Adjust 108 delivered on its promise of controlling multiple fans with ease. The only thing I found was that the LED lighting on the front only works if you have a three-pin fan connected as it uses the RPM sensor of the fan to indicate its brightness, so any two-pin fans will result in no LED light, but don’t worry as you will still be able to control the fan speed.

I love a good fan controller, especially ones that have a minimalist impact on my system’s appearance. I think that fan controllers are often an oversight for many system builders and provide a great way of gaining some extra flexibility from your system, be that when you need maximum cooling for overclocking, benchmarking or gaming, or perhaps keep things quiet for watching a movie or working. Sure you can do a lot of this with software and modern motherboards offer great support over your fans, but you can’t beat the instant results and tactile feed back of using a slider control like you get with the Adjust 108.
