Blacklight Retribution
Blacklight retribution is one of the newer entries to the Free-to-Play arena, an online competitive FPS from developers Zombie Studios and is by far one of the best games I have played this year, I even recently reviewed this game, which you can read here.
It’s an essential game for any fans of multiplayer FPS games, while still currently in beta but due for release later this year, you will be hard pushed to see this as anything less than a AAA product, with it’s gorgeous DX11 graphics and superb customisation options, I don’t think this game is going to see much in the way of competition until WarFace is launched by Crytek.

Team Fortress 2
The most highly-rated free to play game of all time, fact! Team fortress 2 is kitted out with an array of game modes, maps, equipment and character classes, keeping you and your friends blowing each other to bits and more importantly working together to blow other people to bits. With hundreds of weapons and plenty of unique play styles, you’re bound to find a style that suits you.
Choose your team, Reliable Excavation & Demolition (RED) and Builders League United (BLU), both represent two corporations that secretly control every government on the planet, but like you needed an excuse to fight one against the other, right?
Built on the Source Engine, with it’s slick cartoon style graphics and frantic gameplay, this game is something every pc gamer should try at least once in their life.
Team Fortress 2 is available on Steam
Tribes: Ascend
Where do I even start with this game! it’s still currently in Beta, but that hasn’t stopped it from being one of the maddest shooters I’ve played in a long time.
A multi-player, competitive FPS, with all your usual options like Team Death-match, Capture The Flag etc, only your equipped with boots that can be made frictionless (Space-Bar) and a jet pack (Right Mouse Button) which allows you to essentially ski down hills at high speed, then jet pack over the next, build up some momentum though and you can Ski your way endlessly across the games massive levels, all while still trying to guess the trajectory of the guy your trying to blast out of the air! it’s complete madness, but the fun on offer makes this game well worth trying.
