Gamer Storm MF120 Chassis Fan Kit Review

A Closer Look

In terms of interior packaging, this is one of the most impressive setups I have seen. The box neatly folds open to show two of the fans with clear inserts. The fit is precisely snug to allow for firm holding, but easy removal. In addition, you are also greeted with the instruction manual. While it is only 3 images, for system fans, that really is all you need.

The packaging does, however, hold more secrets. By folding out the 2 fans to the top you are greeted by the full kit. I can honestly say that this is one of the best-presented products I have ever seen. The only packaging I have ever seen to compare is that which comes with the Oculus Rift. The effort in the design isn’t necessary, but it’s a fantastic touch to give you confidence in the product before you have even installed it.

The lower section of the packaging accommodates the third fan and the WIFI controller. In addition, in the picture below you will note the pull tab which when lifted has all the cables and connectors within a cardboard package.

Fans

When buying a fan kit, the first thing you are clearly going to want to have a look at is the fans. The three provided have a fantastic design as can clearly be seen below. The mounting system is certainly unusual but only goes to highlight the fantastic design of the 9 blades which have a unique fin tip tiered design. The Gamer Storm logo is lightly embossed to the centre, however, this becomes far more prominent when the RGB is turned on.

The WIFI controller is a nice reasonably compact square design. The bottom area does accommodate RGB lighting effects which work in tandem with the fans themselves. It is rather lightweight as you would expect from the size. This should, however, allow for better options for placement of it within your chassis.

The top of the controller is where all the connectors are inserted. This includes 3 outputs for the fans, a power input (which is via a SATA cable) and in addition a manual 4 pin controller if you wish to regulate the speed purely from your motherboard or bios settings.

Cables and Accessories

In terms of accessories and cabling, with some RGB fans, this can be rather excessive. In this instance though, you are provided with everything you need and all with good length cables. The cabling includes the 3 outputs to connect the fans, the power cable for powering the wireless hub and the 4-pin motherboard adaptor if needed. In addition, you also get all the logo’s you need and also an adhesive pad to help you fit the wireless controller inside your system.
