Gaming news: Arkham City, Battlefield 3, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, L.A. Noire: The Complete Edition

Seeing the cascade of news regarding to released and yet-to-be-released games, it seemed only fair to summarize everything in a single article.

Starting with the yet-to-be-release Batman: Arkham City, while Warner Bros. announced the release date for consoles earlier than its PC counterpart, no real concrete date was given about the latter, yet the 18 November seemed to come up rather often.

Now confirmed, the release date is of November 25 for Europe and November 22 for North America, giving the European gamers more time to wait for the game they’ve already been waiting for.

Now onto an already released game, Battlefield 3, which has been a humongous success amongst fans and other FPS players alike, for which has been announced a patch for one of the frustrating annoyances you’ll find while playing; the tactical light attachment.

DICE’s Alan Kertz has posted, on his Twitter account, three shots on what you can expect to be solved. You can see a reference without flash light, then the actual light in-game and finally what you can expect after the fix. All in all, DICE is really trying to make Battlefield 3 a near perfect game.

After Battlefield 3, comes Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, which has been very anticipated as well, but as also been criticized for its repetitiveness compared to the previous Modern Warfare settlements, on which I can’t entirely disagree to be honest. Two news come from this third settlement of the series (Modern Warfare that is), and it may not be what you would have expected.

First, after the release of the game yesterday, Activision claims Modern Warfare 3 as being the most pre-ordered game ever released, something some of us may have a hard time to believe, although COO and CFA Thomas Tippl has even claimed it to be the largest day one shipment for the entire industry, claiming  a total of 13,000 retailers to have opened after midnight to serve 1.5 million consumers.

“The launch of Modern Warfare 3 was the largest in Activision Blizzard’s history, and our global organization remains laser-focused on delivering the largest entertainment launch of all time for the third consecutive year and to exceed the record set by Black Ops life-to-date,” CEO Bobby Kotick added

Secondly, we have a report of an overload from Activision due to the excessive amount of registrations for Call of Duty Elite, a multiplayer service for the same game.

Nothing really serious, there is no internet issue, neither is their risk of piracy, it’s just that Activision didn’t expect so many registration request (the irony!). In the mean time, Activision could possibly be looking at a staggering system such as the like of EA’s for Start War: The Old Republic.

“We are proud to say that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has launched and millions of people are already playing online,” said Chacko Sonny, Studio Head, Beachhead Studio. “Registration requests for our new live service Call of Duty Elite are exceeding even our most optimistic expectations, which is creating a bottleneck and some players have not been able to register.”

“We have already registered hundreds of thousands of players and we are working around the clock to increase our capacity as quickly as possible,” Sonny added. “Please be assured your gameplay data is safe and that whenever you successfully register for Call of Duty Elite, all of your data will be waiting for you.”

Lastly we finally have the release of L.A. Noire: The Complete Edition for PC, which sees its anticipation rewarded with the goodies consoles had to wait for. The PC releases has indeed all the DLC previously released available right from the start.

Other interesting feature is the support for Nvidia’s 3D Vision, giving the players with the required hardware the ability to enjoy even more realistic gameplay. You can now go on to the Steam Store to get your copy.
