GeIL Evo Forza 16GB 3000MHz DDR4 Review

Final Thoughts

Price

Unfortunately, I couldn’t find any accurate pricing information at the time of writing. However, some Google-fu did show the 8GB sticks at around £75 each, but not from any retailers that we’re familiar with, or small eBay stores. Of course, these things change daily and vary throughout the world. I recommend you check with your local retail of choice for stock and prices.

Overview

GeIL is a well-known name in the memory market. Over the years they’ve created many amazing memory kits that have been loved by the system building and overclocking communities. Their latest DDR4 memory kit certainly lives up to their reputation, but it’s not without its problems.

Stock availability is shocking, and that’s a real shame. This is a great memory kit from a well-known brand in the industry. So not being able to but it from a major retailer is quite a kicker. Of course, stock changes all the time, sales happen, so if you do want a kit, have a Google for it. That being said, we expect the prices to be fairly competitive, so it is worth having a hunt.

In terms of performance, the GeIL Forza 2 x 8 GB kit delivers the goods. It offers competitive performance out of the box using the XMP profile. However, with a simple overclock, it really becomes a lot more competitive. Overclocking is basically giving you free performance. With that robust heat spreader design, the kit is stable at higher speeds and has headroom for those who want to push more advanced overclocks too.

The build quality is great. The heat spreader design may not be to everyone’s taste, as it looks a little busy. However, I think it looks fantastic; it’s certainly a bit different.

Pros

  • Unique heat spreader design
  • Black PCB
  • Great for overclocking
  • Competitive performance
  • Respected brand name

Cons

  • Limited availability

“The Forza delivers performance that’s worthy of our Editors Choice Award, and we are happy to stand by that. However, I don’t feel I can put the badge here until we see more availability at retailers.”
