GeIL EVO X II 16GB 3600MHz DDR4 Review

It’s no surprise that the GeIL Evo X II memory kit gets off to a flying start. It scored our second-highest figure to date at stock in CineBench. Plus, it kept the number 2 spot once overclocked. The only thing faster was the Corsair Dominator; which is a much more expensive kit. At stock, it delivered huge read, write and copy performance. However, it’s still the fastest stock kit on our charts, so that’s no big surprise.

Even the WPrime score was pretty tight, coming in at just 3.024 seconds, putting it ahead of all but the Viper RGB, although it was pretty darn close overall. While it didn’t fend off the Dominator Platinum in the Physics test, the margin was close here too, although it took the lead in the productivity test.

Overclocked

The GeIL Evo X II is already pretty fast right out of the box. I wasn’t expecting to get a particularly big overclock out of it for that reason. However, at 3800 MHz, a 200 MHz bump is nothing to be sniffed at given it is basically free performance. This little boost did give us a mild increase in the CineBench R15 score and nicely improved the read, write and copy performance too. It’s not a huge leap overall though, so it’s debatable if you’ll really feel the performance difference.
