GeIL EVO X II 16GB 3600MHz DDR4 Review

How Much Does It Cost?

The GeIL EVO X II memory kit should be available at most major retailers now. It’s available in 2400/2666/3000/3200/3600/4000/4133MHz as the “standard” kit. The AMD Edition is also available in 2400/2666/3000/3200/3600/4000MHz. However, there’s also the Evo X II ROG-Certified modules which only come in 3000/3200/3600MHz. Both the Intel and AMD set are available in 4GB, 8GB, and 16GB modules up to a 32GB kit. The ASUS kit is available in 8GB modules with kits of 16/32GB.

You can check up to date pricing for the UK here and for the US here.

Overview

The GeIL EVO X II memory kit is a bit of a win all around really. It’s available in a pretty broad range of speeds and sizes, so it’s easy to fit into your own build or budget. Of course, it can get a bit expensive for the flagship kits, but that’s to be expected. Furthermore, memory prices are really pretty great right now, so compared to last years prices, it’s not as scary as we’ve seen in the past.

Huge Heatsinks

Admittedly, the gigantic heatsinks on these modules are not going to be to everyone’s taste. Furthermore, they may conflict with some CPU air coolers. Then again, if you remember to measure up before you purchase, you shouldn’t run into compatibility issues. The benefit of the large heatsink though is that the memory can stay cooler for longer; improving long-term performance. Plus, it raises the RGB higher from the motherboard, which really helps show it off.

Should I Buy Them?

Fantastic aesthetics, with a wide range of speeds, kit sizes and a huge amount of RGB thrown in. What’s not to love about that? Stock is a little hard to find, but that’s not uncommon for new memory kits. If you can find it though, it’s going to make a great addition to your system!
