A Closer Look

First impression of the ORION kit are really good, and mostly because of that fantastic colour. It’s a very rich and vibrant metallic red that really stands out from the crowd. It’s not a flat painted finish either, but rather red brushed aluminium.

It’s a great design and the red contrasts well with the flat black surfaces on the top and bottom.

There’s a Ryzen sticker on there which looks stupid, but alas, you can remove that easily enough. It just looks slapped on there, which it is. I 100% think this and the Intel kit are identical, it’s just marketing (correct me if I’m wrong).

As you can see on the sticker here, we have the CL16 kit, which runs timings of 16-18-18-36, so pretty good actually. They have a slower CL22 variant too, which I suspect will be on the lower MHz models.

The pair look great though, and while black and red is done to death in gaming hardware, it still works for me. The heatsinks have a good weight to them, and the metal is thick, so getting rid of heat should be an easy task.

I love these little vents too, purely aesthetic, but they look great.

The G on the side is raised, but the ORION logo is printed onto the aluminium.

The spine is a flat black finish, but it’s really thick metal again, which helps increase the heat dissipation.

No RGB, no fuss, just robust and stylish memory. I love it, but how does it perform? Let’s find out!
