Gigabyte Adds RX 550 & RX 560 Cards to 500 Series Radeon Lineup

Gigabyte has finally rounded out their 500 series Radeon lineup by adding entry level RX 550 and RX 560 video cards. They provide two options for each and are priced to compete in the sub-$80 and $100 price level. The RX 550 is positioned directly against NVIDIA’s GT 1030 graphics card, while the RX 560 has no direct competitor yet. NVIDIA will most likely release a GT or GTS 1040 at a later time right below the GTX 1050.

Radeon RX 550 D5 2G

The Gigabyte RX 550 D5 2G is the base model with a default core clock that matches the reference design at 1183MHz. This video card has an alternate OC mode however that runs the core clock at 1195MHz instead. As you might have gathered from the name, it is equipped with 2GB of GDDR5 running at 7000MHz. It runs off the PCIe bus power and this does not need a PSU cable unlike other 500 series cards.

This card is extremely compact at only 170mm long. It is 114.6 mm wide and is 29.2 tall, which is makes it a dual-slot card. For display output it has a DVI-D port, a DisplayPort 1.4 and an HDMI 2.0b port. It supports three simultaneous displays at the same time and supports a maximum resolution of 7680×4320@60Hz. This RX 550 uses a single sickle bladed 90mm fan that operates silently and can shut down automatically.

Radeon RX 550 Gaming OC 2G

The Gigabyte Radeon RX 550 Gaming OC 2G on the other hand is equipped with two 90mm fans. It is also slightly longer than the other RX 550, measuring 191mm long.  It is 111 mm wide and 37mm tall, which still fits the dual slot height clearance. As you might have gathered from the name, it has 2G of memory as well but it has an overclocked GPU. The Gigabyte RX 550 Gaming OC 2G runs its core clock at 1206 MHz by default but also has a 1219 MHz OC mode.

This card has a DVI-D port, a DisplayPort 1.4 and an HDMI 2.0b port for display output. It also supports three simultaneous displays at the same time and supports a maximum resolution of 7680×4320@60Hz.

Radeon RX 560 Gaming OC 2G and RX 560 Gaming OC 4G

From the RX 560 Radeon lineup, two Gigabyte options to choose are available, but the differences are mainly in memory configuration. One card comes with 2GB of GDDR5 while the other has 4GB of GDDR5. Both are running at 7000MHz on a 128-bit memory bus. Both RX 560 video cards are also running with the same 1275MHz core clock and 1300MHz OC mode. This core clock is slightly overclocked from the reference 1275MHz. The physical size of the card itself is identical between the two, measuring 190 x 111 x 37mm. Unlike the RX 550, the RX 560 requires a single 6-pin PSU connector to run.

Like the rest of the Gigabyte Radeon lineup, the RX 560 2GB and have a DVI-D port, a DisplayPort 1.4 and an HDMI 2.0b port. It supports three simultaneous displays at the same time and supports a maximum resolution of 7680×4320@60Hz. The cooling system on these video cards use a single 8mm thick heatpipe but otherwise use the same Windforce dual fan design.
