From an outsider point of view, and someone not familiar with Intel vPro and SBA, you may think that this looks to be a very simple board aimed at a budget consumer market, but it has so much more than first meets the eye and this mainly comes down to the software application utility opening up certain features, such as USB Blocker2 and PC health status functionality.

In terms of features, we looked at today, we still have a sufficient amount of SATA ports, CrossFire functionality from the two PCI-Express lanes, a USB 3.0 native header and plenty of display output connectors, if you choose to use your CPUs onboard iGPU of course.

We can honestly see this board appealing to the education sector more than anything, with security being a key measure and the ability to keep the system up-to-date via the included software utility but we’re mention more on that once the B75 chipset has been released.

It’s nice to see Gigabyte taking a broad look at the different aspects of the market, and not putting all of their eggs into one basket and just focussing on the retail channel for average consumers. They have put a lot of thought into this board, and while this preview may not show it too much, we can assure you that this board has a lot to offer, and we’ll be glad to show it to you when this board launches in April.

With that in mind, be sure to check back to eTeknix in April, when we will have a full review on this board, with complete facts and figures, and more information on the SBA technology from Intel, and then you can make your judgement from it then, whereas today was more about looking at the style and design, and also listing what features were available. Call it an appetizer if you will, and April will see the main course and dessert, as that is something we can assure you on.
