Gigabyte Force H3X Gaming Headset Review

Final Thoughts

Price

The Gigabyte H3X is just £59.99, but at this time it’s currently unreleased. Most major retailers will have stock before the end of the year.

Overview

Gigabyte’s new headset really needs to be a stand out product in one way or another. Of course they’ve got the stylish aesthetics on their side, but if the performance doesn’t match the style, then what’s the point. Fortunately for Gigabyte they’ve got great performance, great aesthetics and the build quality is impressive too!

Sounds quality is very important in a headset, of course much of the sound performance is subjective, but I love the rich detail and balanced frequencies that the H3X provides. If you like a thumping headache from crazy bass heavy drivers, look elsewhere. Music does sound great on these, as do movies, but it’s competitive gaming that stands out the most; especially for online shooters. The microphone quality is good too and if you use voice chat while gaming, then you’ll love the H3X.

Build quality is very good, as you saw in my twist test in the closer look section, the H3X can certainly withstand some punishment. I would however take some care with the shiny ear cups, they’re likely prone to scratching due to their strong angles and you wouldn’t want to mess up that lovely finish. The addition of a simple in-line controller and high quality tangle free cables, as well as a soft carry pouch further improve the overall quality you get for your money.

Pros

  • Unique design
  • Durable headband
  • Foldable design
  • Flat and tangle free cables
  • Retracting microphone
  • In-line controller
  • Balanced drivers

Cons

  • Hard wired design
  • Shiny finish on ear cups can be tricky to keep clean, even with the included microfibre cloth

“Whilst the headset market is already fiercely competitive, Gigabyte’s new headset is a strong contender for your money. It’s may not have any stand-out features, but it’s certainly worth the investment if you want something a little more exclusive in a market where certain brands already dominate the masses.”
