Gigabyte Releases 2080 Ti TURBO Video Cards with Blower Fan

Vapour-Chamber + Blower Fan Cooler

Rumours of Gigabyte releasing an RTX 2080 Ti with a blower fan surfaced two weeks ago. Now the company confirms it by officially announcing it on their website. In fact, it is not just a new video card for their AORUS line, but one more under their normal Gigabyte brand as well. These are the Gigabyte RTX 2080 Ti TURBO 11G and AORUS RTX 2080 Ti TURBO 11G.

Blower style fans exhausts heat exclusively in the rear and Gigabyte’s fan uses dual-ball bearings. Complimenting this blower fan is a vapour chamber direct-touch copper cooling plate. This provides not just thermal coverage for the GPU, but for the VRAM and MOSFETs as well.

Cool air is drawn directly from the fan opening, so there are no openings on the shroud. Hot air is then blown through a specially designed rear IO grate. In the rear, both cards provide a DisplayPort 1.4, 3x HDMI 2.0b, and one USB Type-C for connectivity.

What are the Differences Between the Gigabyte and AORUS RTX 2080Ti TURBO?

The two video cards have different shroud designs with an AORUS logo brand on the fan itself. Plus the AORUS version has a brushed aluminium plate with the AORUS name near the front.

Internally, the AORUS version also features a pure copper radiator in addition to the vapour chamber. Whereas the regular Gigabyte Turbo version uses an aluminium radiator.

In terms of clock speed, the AORUS version also comes out of the box much faster. The regular non-AORUS TURBO version only runs at the reference 1545MHz speed. Meanwhile, the AORUS TURBO version runs at 1650MHz out of the box.

The warranty is also longer for the AORUS version with up to 4 years after registration versus 3 years with the non-AORUS 2080 Ti TURBO.

Although the company did not reveal pricing yet, the AORUS version most likely will carry a price premium as well.
