Gigabyte Z590 AORUS PRO AX Motherboard Review

How Much Does it Cost?

Coming in at $290/£300 the Z590 AORUS PRO AX has a lot to offer. This looks to me like it will be the mid-range price bracket for those wanting to go with a Z590 motherboard. This will likely be what most people will want to spend to make sure they are making use of Z590 and what Intel’s 11th Gen CPUs have to offer.

Overview

Gigabyte has done a great job with the Z590 PRO AX motherboard. It has almost everything one could want including three PCIe 4.0 capable M.2 slots for super-fast NVMe storage, a great design and plenty of thermal options to help dissipate and reduce heat levels. On the performance side, again, nothing to worry about there as it goes toe to toe with all the other boards we have tested.

Build Quality & Design

As I have said many times now, the AORUS range of boards offer great quality and generally have a great feature set. The Z590 AORUS PRO AX is no different and still offers users those premium features they crave. Things such as the 90A Power Phases we are seeing across most of the new AORUS boards speaks loads on how they want their brand to be known. Also, talking about all the work they have put in to help reduce thermals so we can push our hardware as far as it will go without having to worry about thermal throttling, you really can’t fault the quality or design at all.

Performance

Standard performance out of the box was great and saw the PRO AX land itself in the top half of our charts. When comparing to other boards, it wasn’t far off from the top of the charts and the real world noticeability would be almost non-existent in most cases. I would have really loved to of seen WiFi 6E on this board but can also appreciate there are many factors as to why this did not happen. All and all the performance was great and when considering it overall, I cannot fault it.

Added Value

Three M.2 slots that support PCIe 4.0, all with thermal shields is a good start to what added value this board has. Alongside that, we have an absurd number of USB ports on the rear IO that should be more than enough for anyone and their mother to plug stuff into. 90A Power Phases and a whole host of other features to help improve power efficiency all add value to what this board has to offer.

Should I Buy One?

It would be very hard to say no, so I am not going to. The Gigabyte Z590 AORUS PRO AX is a solid board that offers plenty of features and has the performance to match. When taking everything into consideration, especially the price this board could very find itself being one of the more sought after Z590 at the sort of mid-range level. When all is said and done, Gigabyte has a great offering here and it is definitely one worth considering.
