Gigabyte Z97X-UD5H-BK (LGA 1150) “Black Edition” Review

Overclocking

Overclocking on Gigabyte’s Z97X-UD5H-BK is as simple as any other Z97 motherboard. The key as always is with multiplier tweaking for the simplest and most stable overclocks. Typically we find we can do 4.8GHz with 1.275 volts but the Gigabyte board allowed us to edge the voltage down quite significantly to 1.25 volts, thus allowing slightly lower power consumption, less heat and more durability long term. The overclock literally couldn’t have been easier, just enter either of the two BIOSes, find the multiplier, dial in 48, find the core voltage, dial in 1.25, save and exit: bosh! There was probably scope for reducing the voltage even more but the difference it will make is fairly minimal, at least to performance.
