Google’s new “Helpouts” service has just gone Online for the first time, though Google is currently only offering access by invitation only. Helpouts is to be a Google Hangouts-based service (A.K.A it will use Google’s “Skype equivalent” called Google Hangouts) that enables individuals and businesses to buy and sell services via a live video stream/call.
The site can be accessed here and currently the service is being trialled with invited testers.
“Helpouts isn’t available yet, but we’re currently inviting people with expertise across a number of topics to be able to offer Helpouts when we go live — and to make money sharing their skills and knowledge with the world.
If you haven’t received an invitation, but are interested in Helpouts, tell us. We’ll let you know when we’re live and accepting more applications to give help.”
Sellers will be able to operate under certain specialist fields such as “Computers,” “Education,” “Food,” “Health,” “Hobbies,” “Repair” and “Other”. The service is designed to allow people to buy and sell services all over the world to hopefully bring costs down by eliminating costs associated with distance.
Google could quickly create one of the world’s biggest e-commerce marketplaces if Google Helpouts is successful.
What do you think of the idea? Will it work?
