Setting up the game was easy, of course as this is a beta we didn’t exactly have a retail package to work with, but was downloaded and installed from Steam (With a BETA key) with ease, when the game is released we do know it will be available on Steam and hopefully a few other digital download outlets.
Once we were in the game, the menus were intuitive and simple enough to figure out, allowing us to set our graphics, audio and control preferences, customise our characters appearance, customise the weapon loadout and name of our chosen ship, select game types and find a game in matchmaking all with just a few clicks and relative ease. This being a beta of course the interface has already gone through some hefty updates since its first release and even right now the developers and tweaking, refining and expanding the interface to great effect, adding new features and options on a fairly regular basis.
Each lobby in the game also features a handy chat box, while headsets are supported (and recommended) it is possible to chat away with your team and the whole lobby both in and out of a game, allowing you to arrange matches, setup teams or hurl abuse at the opposing team, which I’m sure non of you do anyway, right?
