Hauppauge HD PVR Gaming Edition Review

The hardware its self looks fantastic, its made of light plastics but the finish looks good, it blends in nicely between my black ps3 and xbox 360.  Its also extremely light, not that I plan on carrying it around anyway, but I get the impression that if I opened it up (I wont) that it would be mostly empty, its size is likely to accommodate the number of input and output sockets it houses.

Spin the PVR around and you can see just how well equiped this thing is, with a full range of HD component inputs and outputs on the back, meaning using all the cables provided you can get upto 1080i from your PS3 or Xbox and output it back to your TV with no loss in resolution or lag for that matter, the inclusion of optical input and output also means you can steam 5.1 DD sound for both capturing and through put to your surround sound, so even when your recording your not losing any of the gaming experience you may be used to.

You’ll also notice on the back a USB socket, it’s the one between the Blaster and the DC 5v sockets for those of you not familiar with that type of USB socket, which you use to connect to your computer for video capture, I’ll explain more on that in a moment.
